 Filipinos are basically fatalistic people.  Before they begin doing something, they should first invoke the blessing of the Lord or whoever they worship to.  Religious belief is an essential part of life of Filipinos.  Filipinos generally believe in God and have their own belief or religious affiliation.  When they meet someone who says that they don't have a religion, chances are, the ordinary Filipino will not understand it so it might require a lot of explanation.  Having no religious affiliation is a foreign thing to them.  I always advise any student of mine to just say he is a Buddhist or a Taoist or another sort of belief or religious affiliaton so that there will be no explanation needed unless of course someone asks how they worship or if their religion has some kind of a mass or a liturgical celebration or the like, then that will be an explanation that's necessary.  Filipinos can be nosy like that so foreigners need to be honest  

Cebuanos have an expression puhon.  Before they embark on something, they say puhon.  I believe puhon means Godwilling or if God permits or by God's will.  Sometimes it also means "in the future." Here are some examples of usage of puhon.

Moadto ko sa Cordova ugma puhon.

I will go to Cordova tomorrow, Godwilling. 

Mopalit unya ko puhon og yuta sa Moalboal.

I will buy a piece of land in Moalboal in the future, if God permits.

Pamakasyon unya mo puhon diri sa amo.

You must go on vacation here at our place in the future.

So impress the Cebuano natives by throwing this expression in between plans that you are making with your lady love.  Just say 'puhon.'   No need for sentences.   

If your fiancee says, "Let's go to the beach tomorrow." just say, " Sure, puhon, puhon. "  

Saying puhon means that you hope that whatever plans you make will push through.
